He never actually said he was joining the army. He let her make that assumption. He never corrected her or confirmed it. He just needed her to get on the train. He needed her to leave and it was the only way she would go. I don’t think he actually joins the army. I think he wants to go there and try and campaign on behalf of his father but I don’t think it’s his future.
